Have you ever had an issue where your website went down or offline at a crucial moment? It happens more than we’d like to think about. It’s scary right? If something is wrong with your website it can (and most likely will) impact your business
Your spiritual coaching website is a window into the world for your business and is your #1 sales tool. It’s important that you maintain all the moving parts of your website. Even if you designed your website yourself, the work doesn’t stop there. Website care is a regular ‘to-do’ in your coaching business.
What happens when:
- Potential clients are not able to access your website?
- Something is not showing up correctly (or not at all) on your website?
- Your website is completely gone?
I’m sharing the 4 big mistakes that spiritual coaches make when it comes to website maintenance and care.
Maintaining Your Website Mistake #1
Doing nothing
This is the most common mistake I see business owners make. It’s challenging to make the time to maintain your website. Your time includes not only maintain it, but to troubleshoot when something goes wrong – because it will.
The worst thing you can do is do nothing.
Maintaining Your Website Mistake #2
Relying on your hosting company for backups
Hosting companies typically provide backup services. Some you will pay additional for and some are included, but to rely on them for your only backup is playing with fire.
For example, we provide backups for our clients on our server, but we also backup separately to an external location. You never know when you shit is going to hit the fan with your website and you need to have a backup that you control and that you can easily access.
You want to have a separate place – like Google Drive – and make your own regular backups.
Maintaining Your Website Mistake #3
Trying to do everything yourself
I know… you can do it. You want to save a few bucks and do this yourself. It’s a common trait for business owners to try and do everything themselves. Life is much easier if you can let go. Trust me. You don’t want to be knee deep in technical things with your website on your own.
If you can let go and allow someone with more expertise (see #4) and with the time and energy (because that’s what they do) carry out the maintenance and updates it will save YOU time. It’ll also save your sanity! ?
Our clients are able to do so much more since they are not having to deal with any updating or maintenance.
What could you do with the time you’re saving?
What Our Clients Are Saying
“It gives me the freedom to focus on other areas of my business knowing my site is cared for. I can count on you and that means a lot.”
“It’s one less thing to worry about. I know that my site is protected & easily updated, which is important to me.”
“It allows me to focus on what I do and relieves the stress of updated my website. I’m able to grow my business knowing my website is stable.”
Maintaining Your Website Mistake #4
Lacking expertise
Most spiritual coaches do not have the experience to look after their own websites. Sure, you can, but… do you really know how? Maybe you feel adventurous and think “I’ll have a go” at it, but do you really want to? It’s a dangerous game of digital Whack-A-Mole.
Say what? Yes, you attempt to fix one thing that you think is wrong, and something else goes wrong. ??♀️ You go to troubleshoot that, and well, lookie there… this plugin you just updated broke your site and now you have no website. ? What now?
Anything can go wrong – ask my husband who takes care of all this for us. It’s so important to have someone who knows what they are doing in your corner. At least have a ‘go-to’ person to reach out to in the event you need to.
What does all this mean for your spiritual coach website?
Just like your car and your home, your website needs regular maintenance. It’s a vital part of your business and the vehicle that helps potential customers to learn more about you and how you do things, learn to trust you and eventually buy into your offers.
If you don’t maintain your car, eventually it will break down. If you let those pesky home issues go too far (i.e. not maintaining them), your home will eventually have major issues.
You invested time and money in setting up your business, building your brand and creating a spiritual coach website that showcases the services you offer, value you provide, your story, your message. A lot has went into your website. Why risk it?
Protecting your investment is an important part of being a business owner.
So how do you protect your investment?
The best option for most spiritual coaches is to hand over hosting and maintenance tasks to a trusted company who will look after your website on an ongoing basis.
A Website Care & Support Plan (as we call it) provides you with peace of mind. It allows you to stay focused on growing your business, serving your clients in a way that only you can do, while experienced professionals look after your website and keep it safe.
We are committed to your success and do everything we can do ensure your website is performing like a well-oiled machine. Technology and strategies continue to evolve and it’s a full-time job to keep abreast of all the trends and developments.
We’re here to take care of it all for you so you can go forth in growing your business and doing what you do best.
You “could” be spending time doing these website maintenance tasks yourself or focus on growing your business and building relationships with your leads and customers instead.
BOTTOM LINE: How much is YOUR time worth?
